‘Your Right To Know’ Campaign

In late 2019 all of Australia’s major media organisations joined forces to call for reforms to protect public interest journalism in Australia. Australia’s Right to Know coalition included Nine, News Corp, the ABC, SBS, The Guardian, and journalists’ union the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance.

The campaign, an unprecedented show of unity between competitors, pushed for stronger protections for media freedom after years of perceived deterioration.

Andrew Gill, GK Collective partner, managed all of the media negotiations, planning and implementation across all media organisations culminating in a month long national campaign never before seen in Australia or across the world.

On launch day the front cover of every metropolitan, national and regional newspaper allowed the campaign to take over their front pages. At the same time there was a national TV, radio and digital takeover using most media outlets.
